Border Management and Trade

Overview

Risk based approaches to Border Management and Trade facilitation help to reduce resource requirements on customs and border management agencies, while ensuring legitimate trade and travellers cross border efficiently – while intervening in higher risk consignments and passengers.

An Integrated Border Management and Trade facilitation system require skills development for customs and border agency staff and the physical spaces, transport and equipment to conduct interventions and detecting illicit goods; technology for automating verification and documentation tracking; creating risk profiles; and the creation and upskilling of intelligence functions. Trade facilitation also includes accurate application of tarrifs.
