Humanitarian Strategy

The Humanitarian Impact Institute provides humanitarian strategy services including strategy design, strategy reviews and strategy feasibility assessments. This is alongside our work on innovations, AI & Digital Futures and our transformation and transition services.

We prioritise the impact of our client’s services for communities, while also advancing organisational strategic realities.

Our approach recognises that structure and strategy are only one part of what makes an organisation more impactful.

HII’s strategy models are applicable at movement/federation level, organisational HQ, regional level, country level or program level.

We will help your organisation to achieve more impact through more effective execution; through innovation; increasing accountability and performance; and/or through transformation.

HII works with you to reflect on achievements, direction and strategic opportunities through sophisticated and relevant lenses.

Project Examples

A strategic review of how MSF as a movement is operating with a unique governance structure and organisational setup in Afghanistan. The project analysed whether the unique setup should continue and its wider value and opportunities for the MSF movement. The report has been published by MSF.

Oxfam GB needed a strategy for its phase out from it’s partner led Ukraine Response. This phase out strategy was Oxfam’s opportunity to depart with local/national partners being more sustainable, self sufficient and supported. Oxfam hired HII to facilitate the creation of this strategy using feminist principles.

A three month long deep-dive strategy development process designed to help ACBAR and its 200+ members position themselves in post-Taliban Afghanistan. Key to the strategy was to develop methods for managing increasing DFA corruption, obstruction and interference.
