About Humanitarian Impact Institute
The Humanitarian Impact Institute elevates voices and accelerates learning to increase your impact on humanitarian, development, sustainability, social inclusion, peace and security programs globally.
Our contribution to achieving this is focused on people who face extreme hardship. These people disproportionately live in fragile environments. We work with them, and with implementing organisations by ensuring project oversight and accountability.
Inclusive Learning
HII uses Inclusive & Participatory approaches to bolster evidence and learning by harnessing Community Voices, Perceptions & Knowledge.
Everything HII does delivers learning. Learning drives humanitarian impact.
HII generates this learning through inclusive approaches. The communities affected by a crisis or conflict or disaster are best placed to understand their community’s needs and how/whether they are best served. Including all elements of these communities in research and evaluation design is therefore critical to the quality of the resultant product.

What we do
We specialise in humanitarian project and programme evaluations in fragile environments. We mostly conduct process and impact evaluations. We also conduct organisational capacity assessments, research and strategy services. We can also provide quality assurance processes for internal evaluations
Our Origins
Prior to January 2024, HII was known as the European Sustainable Development Organisation (ESDO). Our partners, people and the communities we work with asked us to refocus purely on humanitarian impact. The name change is therefore a complete internal refocus into an area we were mostly already working in, and not just a name change. This is a natural evolution.

The Humanitarian Impact Institute is Headquartered in The Academy, across from Trinity College Dublin.
Our operations are supported by regional hubs in Ukraine (Kyiv), Ethiopia (Addis Ababa), Lebanon (Tyre), Türkiye (Gaziantep) & Afghanistan (Kabul).
