Cash Modalities, NFIs and In-Kind
Cash Modalities, NFIs and In-Kind
Overview
The growing use of cash modalities to provide support to affected populations during humanitarian emergencies means that the Humanitarian Impact Institute works across all Cash Modalities, NFIs and In-Kind support.
The cash modalities we assess include emergenc and crisis specific support such as:
- Unconditional cash transfers (UCTs).
- Conditional cash transfers (CCTs).
- One-off cash payments.
- Multi-purpose cash assistance (MPCA).
- Cash for protection.
- Cash for education.
- Cash and voucher assistance (CVA) including paper electronic and commodity vouchers.
- Cash for work (CFW).
- Asset transfers and support
We assess against the Cash Working Group guidelines and agreements on amounts, as well as assess both CWG and donor participant selection criteria. We also assess the suitability of the modality, risks, efficiency, effectiveness and coherence.
We also work with implementers to assess and refine in-kind support, food provision and non-food item (NFI) provision including supply chains and logistics.
Our work is also aligned to the Core Humanitarian Standard to ensure that Cash Modalities, NFIs and In-Kind services are inclusive, gender, age and disability adapted, community driven and accountable.
