Humanitarian Evaluators Course - Foundations

The Humanitarian Evaluators Course (Foundations) teaches the fundamentals of internal and external evaluations in both the humanitarian & development sectors.

Course Summary

This course provides the fundamental knowledge and tools necessary to become an evaluator in the humanitarian and development sector.

It is an intense course designed to give students the skillset necessary to deliver an evaluation alongside an experienced evaluation Team Leader.

This course is paired with the Humanitarian Impact Institute’s course on Advanced Humanitarian & Development Evaluations.

Where other courses online focus on specific technical skills, this course is holistic and covers the full range of evaluator skills and knowledge at a foundational level. Students will learn how to design evaluations; how to conduct unbiased and uncontaminated data collection; to prepare data for analysis; conduct high quality analysis; and how to manage evaluations and difficult scenarios the evaluator is likely to experience in their career.

This is a high practical course that involves applying what you learn throughout the course in small teams and individually.

The learning is delivered in a diverse and psychologically safe environment by a number of senior and highly experienced evaluators with different expertise who are there to build your confidence as an evaluator.

Students will leave the course with the fundamental skills and tools necessary to conduct a high quality evaluation.
